We have lived on Auckland’s North Shore all our lives and especially love living here in Mairangi Bay which has become our home for the past 20 years. We both enjoy meeting people from here in New Zealand and from all over the world, and like to think we can promote our beautiful country. We have both travelled extensively over the years and know what it is like to find accommodation which suits and does not cost a small fortune. We also like to offer our guests total privacy, but we are here if they need us for advice.
Our studio accommodation has been successfully operating for 15 years now (since 2007) and we feel that Mairangi Bay is such a lovely place to live that we want to be able to share it with our guests from around the world.

Driving Directions
Only 20 minutes from Auckland CBD
From Auckland Airport
Follow George Bolt Memorial Drive to State Highway 20A (1.0 km).
Continue on State Highway 20A. Take State Highway 20, State Highway 16 and State Highway 1 to Tristram Ave in Wairau Valley. Take exit 417 from State Highway 1 (35 km).
Turn left into Forrest Hill Rd, East Coast Rd and then turn right into Kowhai Road. This road is about 1km long and runs down to Mairangi Bay. At the bottom of this hill take a left turn into Beach Road then drive down the road around the corner (about 200 metres) and we are right there on the corner of Whitby Crescent and Beach Road (behind a large hedge). You will know if you have gone too far as just past our place is a roundabout and the Mairangi Bay Village Shops (5 km).
(Total distance from airport 41 km) – depending on time of day and if it was light traffic this journey should be about 35-40 minutes.
To Auckland Airport
- After leaving Whitby Studio, turn left into Beach Road and drive 200 metres up the hill until you reach Kowhai Road on your right. Drive to the top of Kowhai Road then turn left into East Coast Road which runs into Forrest Hill Road. Drive down this road until you get to Tristram Avenue on your right where you will access State Highway 1 heading South (5 km).
- Continue on State Highway 1. Take SH 16, State Highway 20 and State Highway 20A to George Bolt Memorial Drive in Mangere which takes you directly to Auckland Airport (36 km).
(Total distance from airport 41 km) – depending on time of day and if it was light traffic this journey should be about 35-40 minutes.
Check-In & Checkout
On your arrival, please park your vehicle in front of the large white doors. Normally we will be here for you at check-in, but if not, we will mutually arrange with you where a door key will be placed.
Check in no earlier than 2.00 p.m. – or earlier by request and availability.
Check out no later than 10.00 a.m. – or later subject to availability.
Cancellation Policy
Free cancellation. No Prepayment needed.
If you must cancel your booking due to unforeseen circumstances, we would really appreciate it if you gave us as much notice as possible so we can advertise again and not lose our valued business.
House Rules
Smoking is permitted outside only, please use the ashtray provided.
We apologise we cannot accommodate your pets as we have two cats who are very timid (although once they get used to you, they might be more sociable).
Parties and events are not permitted.
We hope you understand that we ask you to refrain from cooking strong-scented foods, i.e., curries, fish, etc. Unfortunately, the odour lingers in the studio for a long time and is not pleasant for our next guests.
